We politely request that visitors refrain from handling any of the artefacts on display as they are generally very old and delicate and, in many cases, on loan to us from various sources. Masks are now at the discretion of the visitor.  On colder days it can be rather cold in the museum, so we would recommend a coat to keep you comfortable, 1000 year old stone walls don’t retain a lot of heat!

Regrettably because of the age and size of the building, the museum is not suitable wheelchair users, prams or pushchairs.  It may be unsuitable for those with limited mobility due to the stairs. Prams/pushchairs etc can be left outside but this is at the owner’s risk.  We take no responsibility for items damaged, lost or stolen whilst left unattended.
