2025 is the 200th anniversary of the birth of the modern railway and Rail 200 has been created to celebrate the past, present, and future of rail.
Teaming up with Kent Community Rail Partnership across the Isle of Sheppey bespoke local rail photography exhibitions will be displayed for three weeks from mid-September across the museums of:
- The Criterion Heritage Centre
- The Minster Gatehouse
- The Queenborough Guildhall Museum
Saturday 27th September 2025 is the exact 200th anniversary from the first ever passenger train and you can read more about the first ever train journey on 27th September 1825 here;

Here at the Minster Gatehouse Museum you will find our photography exhibition on our ground floor. You can look back on some wonderful memories, from the station grapevine to the railway queen celebrations. So come step back in time with us and learn all about how rail shaped Sheppey!
